The Song: Escape (The Pina Colada Song) Rupert Holmes 1979

Why not?  Holmes had another hit single in 1980 entitled "Him" that
reached #6 on the Billboard charts.

The Song: On and On Stephen Bishop 1977

Why not?  In '77 Bishop also charted with "Save it for a Rainy Day"
and again in '78 with "Everybody Needs Love".  In 1983
he charted with "It Might be You" from "Tootsie".

The Song: It Never Rains in Southern California Albert Hammond 1972

Why not?  Hammond managed to crack the top 40 a second time
  with "I'm a Train in 1974.

The Song: If You're Going to San Francisco  Scott MacKenzie 1967

Why not?  MacKenzie scored a second hit in 1967 with
Like an Old Time Movie which peaked at # 24.

The Song: 1, 2, 3, Len Barry 1965

Why not?  Barry also charted with "Like a Baby" in 1966.

The Song: Eve of Destruction Barry McGuire 1965

Why not?  According to Billboard, if you chart as a solo or part of a group,
it counts the same.  So, McGuire's hit with the New Christy Minstrels,
"Green Green" in 1963 disqualifies him.

The Song: Green-Eyed Lady Sugarloaf 1970

Why not?  In 1974 they charted again with "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You." (#9)
