Call Me
Al
Q: Who sang you can call
me al with Paul Simon in 1986? Please help to otherwise my
marriage may not last! Thanks- Elizabeth
A: Hello
Elizabeth-
Thank you for taking the time to send me
your question.
Hold up on those divorce papers!!!! lol!
Below is a listing from the liner notes
of the Graceland Remastered album (on which "You Can Call Me Al"
appears) that lists all personnel connected with that album. I also
have an excerpt from the original Graceland which denotes who did
what on that particular track..
I am guessing that one of you thinks
Chevy Chase sang not he track, perhaps? I've heard people say this
before, however, it is not the case. Chevy does appear in the video
and lip synchs and pretends to play various instruments in the
video. However, Paul's is the only voice on the recording.
I will note that Chevy did appear with
Paul at
the concert for New
York Children's Health Project, Madison Square Garden, NY in
December of 1987. I am not clear as to whether or not Chevy sung
with Paul on this song or just aped around on stage.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if I can assist you
in any other way.
I hope you will visit me again.
Thanks-
Raven
